UPCOMING EVENTS

May 1, 2026 – Centennial Park Volunteer Day – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  CCTA has partnered with the City of Challis to remove the chain link fence around the bad tennis court in preparation for installation of the two pickleball courts and basketball court that is scheduled to occur this summer.

June 3, 2026 – The Salmon-Challis NF and the SNRA will be jointly be hosting a National Trails Day Event on June 3, 2026 to do a reroute and work on the Little Basin Meadow Trail that originates off the Stanley Creek Road.

June 6, 2026 – National Trails Day Event, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  CCTA is hosting an event to construct a new single-track motorized trail on City of Challis public land within the Challis Foothills Trail System.  Construction will take place south of the Dump Road. The new trail will continue the flavor of Dave’s Wave from the top of Lower Foothills Trail to the Round Valley Trailhead. Other volunteer activities will be offered for those who do not wish to participate in the actual trail construction.

June 13, 2026 – Challis Kid’s Free Fishing Derby – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. CCTA is partnering with Idaho Fish and Game and Custer Soil and Water Conservation District in sponsoring a fishing derby open to youth of community of Challis. Prizes will be awarded in four age groups up to 16 years old for biggest fish with free treat bags to be given to all participants. Food and raffle prizes are planned as well.

June 26 – 28, 2026 – North Fork Big Creek Trail Volunteer Bridge Project, Salmon-Challis National Forest – IDPR and sponsors are welcoming volunteers to come help build a new single-track trail bridge over the N.F. Big Creek. Camping is available at Big Creek Campground and surrounding area. Friday will be move in day with work happening Saturday and Sunday morning. Meals will be provided for all participants starting Friday evening.

September 26, 2026 – Challis Trail Festival – 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM – CCTA again will be hosting multiple running and mountain biking fun races for different levels of ability in celebration of the Challis Foothills trails. 

PAST EVENTS

Challis Trail Day Event – September 27, 2025 — We hosted an exciting new event at the Challis Foothill Trails with a variety of fun events for all ages. We had a festive turnout of trail enthusiasts of all ages, making it truly a celebration of our trail system and our great Challis community! We also held a raffle with great prizes from our generous community sponsors.

Challis Kids Fishing Derby – June 14, 2025 — A fun community event held at Blue Mountain Fishpond in Challis. A good time was had by all! Check out the photos in the Gallery page! Mark your calendars for next year.

National Trails Day – June 7, 2025 — Trail work constructing a new dirt bike trail for youth riders; litter pick up at trailhead area
